Our Story

How it all started...

Calvary ATX began with a calling that started long before our first gathering.

In November 2006, Carlos Giraldo encountered Jesus in a life-changing way. The Lord saved his life, restored his marriage, and placed a clear call on his heart for pastoral ministry. That calling did not lead immediately to a pulpit. Instead, God led him through years of preparation, serving faithfully, growing in the Word, and learning what it means to shepherd people with humility and patience.

Like Moses in the wilderness and David in the caves, the Lord used seasons of waiting to shape the heart before the work. What felt like delays were part of God’s design, forming a foundation rooted not in ambition, but in obedience.

Expanding the vision...

In 2020, after moving from Seattle to Austin, something was reignited.
A deep love for the city, its people, and its urban communities began to grow through the faithful hearing and teaching of God’s Word. Serving in the local church without titles or expectations brought renewed joy and clarity. Ministry was no longer something to chase. It became something to live out daily through love, service, and obedience.

As that passion continued to burn, the Lord confirmed His work through prayer, counsel, and time. When the desire to pursue ministry was finally laid down, God began opening doors that could only be attributed to Him.

Where we are headed...

In 2022, the Lord made it clear that it was time to step out in faith.
With prayerful confirmation and the support of trusted pastors and church family, Carlos, along with his wife and daughters, planted Calvary ATX. Leaving a church they deeply loved was not easy, but obedience often requires trust before clarity.

Calvary ATX was planted with a simple commitment. To exalt Jesus Christ and teach His Word faithfully, verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Our heart is to see lives transformed by Scripture, strengthened through community, and guided by the Holy Spirit.

As we look ahead, our desire remains the same. To serve the city of Austin with humility, compassion, and faithfulness, reaching both English and Spanish-speaking communities with the hope found in Jesus. After years of laying foundations and being shaped by the Lord, we sense that this season marks a new chapter. With the new facility that opened last Easter, we are stepping forward in faith, trusting God to establish His work and use Calvary ATX to bless the city for years to come.
