A Spiritual Heritage Rooted in God’s Word...
Calvary ATX is part of the Calvary Chapel family of churches. While each Calvary Chapel church is locally governed and led, we share a common spiritual heritage shaped by a deep love for Jesus Christ, a commitment to teaching the whole Word of God, and a desire to live out our faith simply and faithfully.
Our connection to Calvary Chapel is not about a denomination or a name. It is about a shared conviction that God’s Word should be taught clearly, consistently, and without compromise, allowing the Holy Spirit to work through the Scriptures in the lives of His people.

Where It Began...
Calvary Chapel emerged during the Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s, a time when many young people were searching for truth, purpose, and hope. God used this movement to draw people back to the Bible, emphasizing grace, simplicity, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
From the beginning, the focus was not on programs or performance, but on faithfully teaching the Scriptures and trusting God to transform lives through His Word.

What Defines Calvary Chapel Churches...
While Calvary Chapel churches may look different in style and size, they share several core distinctives that shape how ministry is carried out.
At Calvary ATX, these distinctives include:
• Teaching the Bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter
• Emphasizing the authority and sufficiency of Scripture
• Depending on the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer
• Keeping worship simple and Christ-centered
• Leading with a shepherd’s heart rather than control
• Valuing grace, humility, and biblical truth
These convictions guide how we teach, lead, and care for people.

Living Out That Heritage Today...
Our Calvary Chapel roots shape the way we live out our mission here in Austin. They influence our teaching, our leadership, and our approach to church life.
At Calvary ATX, this means you can expect:
• Bible teaching that walks through Scripture faithfully and thoughtfully
• A church culture that values grace, truth, and spiritual growth
• Leadership that seeks to serve, disciple, and shepherd
• A focus on knowing Jesus, not simply knowing about Him
• A desire to love and serve our city without compromising God’s Word
Our goal is not to build a platform, but to build lives grounded in Christ.

A Living Legacy...
We are grateful for the spiritual heritage God has given us through Calvary Chapel, but we also recognize that the church is not defined solely by its past. God continues to work in the present, calling His people to remain faithful, teach the truth, and walk in love.
As Calvary ATX, we seek to honor that heritage while faithfully responding to what God is doing today in Austin and beyond.
